How many members of this site have used or are using a "normal" online dating service, and if so, do you specify that you're looking for someone tall? I posted on Craigslist recently in the "Strictly Platonic" dating section, and I mentioned that I was looking for someone taller. I received at least two replies from women who objected to my search for someone closer to my height. I don't completely exclude women under 5'-8" (I could be passing up someone who's perfect in every other way, other than giving me a backache...), but I certainly give preference to women at that height or taller. What have the rest of you experienced when you specifically look for a taller mate?

Hi Benita,

That's probably quite true that a lot of guys see themselves as what they were in their 20's, rather than what they are in their 40's or 50's. Beyond that, they probably get a look at you and have an overwhelming compulsion to do whatever they feel necessary to get close to you.

Peace back,
Gary

Hi Gary,

I couldn't agree with you more!!!

I'm really up front on my profile!! About who I am, and what I'm looking for. Most people are no where near, as clear as I am.lol

It's got to be an ego thing!! Why 5'7" guys, write me all the time.

But it's not only the height thing. They ignore age, ideologies, interests, physical fitness, etc..
Often they will be overweight, and out of shape.
There's nothing wrong with that, except, they can't/couldn't keep up with me.lol

I think a lot of guys, see themselves, as they were, not as they are.

Sort of seems, that's one of the hazards, of dating in my age range.lol

Wish you luck, in finding the one for you!:)

Peace,
Benita

Hi Benita,

The guys under 6' probably think that their personalities will compensate for lack of height, but their honesty and/or ability to comprehend and honor a simple request immediately fall into question when they ignore your profile and contact you anyway! Could be that their ego is bigger than they are...

Hi Gary,
I'm on several regular dating sites. I'm not at all bashfull about the height, I want in a guy.
I say something like--Guys please be tall-If you're 5'11 or shorter, you are not tall!!!Please be at least 6'.

It doesn't do a bit of good!!
I don't mean this in a mean way; but, Every Guy, thinks, he's the exception, to the rule!!!!!!:)
