Hi all you tall friends out there, both male and female. As a nurse, I've recently become aware of a syndrome that afflicts SOME tall people. It's Marfan syndrome and can be fatal. You can find out more at Marfan.org. I'm interested if anyone else has comments or personal experience with this. I learned about it in Tall Magazine. Imfiveten

Thanks gary, Julie, and Lovely, I learned something more about Marfan from each of you. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, Lovely. That's why I put the message out there, hoping to spare others from the pain you experienced. Hugs to all of you! Imfiveten

On a personal note, my friend Sherry died at the young age of 19 of a heart condition. Sherry had more distinct characteristics from birth with Marfan syndrome than adults who may go undetected until heart or lung problems arise. She was to have heart surgery in January 1982 ...it wouldn't come about ...Christmas day 1981 Sherry died in the arms of her boyfriend. I'm blessed to have known her, she was a beautiful person.

Vincent Schiavelli, the guy that played the 'subway' guy in "Ghost" had Marfan Syndrome. The sunken eyes are a symptom of the disorder, as is the droopy face look. There is information available on their website at marfan.org.

I have heard that Abraham Lincoln, had a rare disease, that some very tall people have, but don't remember, what it was. Being from Illinois, I learned a lot about him, in younger years, and, on PBS. 2tallgary
